We would like to thank Mary Howard & Chuck Della Lana from Ohio Wesleyan for putting together such a wonderful video about our agency. “To Love Those Left Behind” really shows you how The Open Shelter impacts the most vulnerable in our community; those who have been left behind, those who have nowhere else to turn. We have been serving the homeless and marginally housed for over 34 years and even though we are struggling with a transition and finances, there is still HOPE.
Please watch this video and please make a donation to keep The Open Shelter OPEN. Thank You.
On the final Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM, Gateway Film Center provides stimulating activities for families, including games, story readings, Dance Cam where kids and their families can watch themselves bust a move on the big screen and more. At 11:00 AM, enjoy live music by The Shazzbots! and kid-friendly short films. All presentations in the HOOT Family Film Series at the Gateway Film Center are “G” rated and admission to the series is free with a suggested donation of a canned good to benefit The Open Shelter.
This month’s (7/29) theme is THE OCEAN.
Gateway Film Center is located at 1550 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43201.

Bring in the flyer attached below, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting our cause to make sure 50% of the proceeds will be donated to The Open Shelter.
We would like to give a very warm and heartfelt THANK YOU to youth groups from The Korean Church of Columbus who gave a week of their time, talents & compassion to help those we serve at The Open Shelter and at other facilities, like our neighbor St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church. For many years, Rev. Keun Sang Lee & chaperones from the church have accompanied the youth for this Urban Plunge. We are so grateful for their help and for the wonderful donation Rev. Lee & the church made to us at the end of the week. Their support makes sure we can keep our doors open to help the most vulnerable in our community.
