Thank You To Livi’s Mitzvah Project!

Thank you to Olivia Holz who through her efforts, donated 50 canvas bags — each containing soap, tissues, a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, deodorant, a wash cloth, and two water bottles — to The Open Shelter on 6/7/17.

She also gave boxes and boxes of extra donations (items they didn’t have enough of to include in each bag), including shampoo and conditioner, hand lotion, feminine products, wipes, and a lot more.  We and those we serve are very grateful for this donation!

Thank You To Devonshire Alternative Elementary!

We would like to extend a most gracious thank you to Devonshire Alternative Elementary School student leaders, students, faculty (especially Melissa Shumaker) for supporting The Open Shelter and those we serve through their Penny Harvest efforts.  They collected $400.00 for our mission!  Plus, Devonshire has been also very helpful in donating needed items and even sack lunches.  We and those we serve are very grateful.

Take a moment to watch these two videos to see how Devonshire student leaders chose agencies to support and how they campaigned and worked for them:

Thank You To Ridgeview STEM Junior High!

We would like to thank Michelle Garinger and students from Ridgeview STEM Junior High for making sack lunches for those we serve and for taking part in a discussion about The Open Shelter.  We also would like to thank Peace United Methodist Church for hosting this.
