Kent & Mary Beittel have been tireless advocates for the homeless and marginally housed in Central Ohio for many, many years. Plenty of times in The Open Shelter’s 34 year history it has stared down an uncertain future. Unfortunately, we face that again as Kent & Mary are struggling with medical concerns as she battles cancer and the agency itself is dealing with fundraising declines that put it’s future in doubt.
